A Chinese paraglider, Peng Yujiang, was propelled over 8,000 meters high by an updraft during a practice flight, leading to a six-month ban from the activity after a viral video of his experience. Initially launching from 3,000 meters in the Qilian mountain range, he became trapped in the updraft for over an hour, struggling with freezing temperatures and a lack of oxygen. Authorities deemed his flight unauthorized due to the absence of a flight plan, and while his altitude neared a world record, it will not be officially recognized.
