The Trump administration has accused China of attempting to isolate itself globally through new export rules on critical minerals, which require government approval for trading products containing over 0.1% of such minerals. U.S. officials, including trade representative Jamieson Greer and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, have vowed to work with allies to “decouple” from Beijing’s influence in supply chains, asserting that China’s actions could lead to a lack of trust in international partnerships.
