A Chinese hacking campaign targeted the phones of Republican nominee Donald Trump, his running mate Sen. JD Vance, and individuals associated with Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign, as well as the staff of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. The FBI and CISA are investigating the unauthorized access to telecommunications infrastructure by actors linked to China, with three American telecom companies reportedly hacked. There is no evidence that the campaign was aimed at influencing the 2024 election, and China denies interference, while the ODNI has stated that China does not seek to influence the presidential race.
