Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng has been meeting with U.S. finance executives, including BlackRock’s Larry Fink and Goldman Sachs’ John E. Waldron, in an effort to establish relationships ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s planned tariffs on China. He Lifeng, who heads the Chinese Communist Party’s economic and finance committee, also met with Citigroup’s Jane Fraser. This move is seen as a way for China to establish communication channels with the incoming Trump administration, which has appointed finance-heavy individuals to key Cabinet positions.
