China has lifted restrictions on British MPs and peers, allowing all parliamentarians to visit the country following discussions with President Xi Jinping. The UK will not be lifting sanctions on Chinese officials in return. China previously sanctioned five Conservative MPs and two members of the House of Lords for their criticism of human rights violations. The parliamentarians have stated they would rather remain sanctioned than see British sanctions on Chinese officials responsible for Xinjiang genocide lifted.
