Chicago-area residents are urged to conserve water to prevent storm water management systems from overflowing ahead of heavy rain this week. An “Overflow Action Day” has been issued by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District on Monday, with rain expected to continue through Tuesday and possibly into Wednesday. Residents are advised to limit water usage by delaying showers, reducing toilet flushing, and avoiding high-water-usage appliances to prevent flooding and potential release of untreated wastewater into the Chicago River.
