Charlcombe Lane near Bath will be closed for six weeks to assist over 3,000 amphibians in reaching their breeding lake, with volunteers patrolling at night to guide them safely across the road. Last year, 50 volunteers dedicated over 600 hours to help 3,225 amphibians cross, marking the second-best year for amphibian numbers and the busiest in 14 years, with the largest number of newts helped on record and the best for toads since 2013.
