Nick Rockett wins Grand National for Mullins duo

Jockey Patrick Mullins, trained by his father Willie Mullins, won the Grand National at Aintree on Nick Rockett, with I Am Maximus finishing second and Grangeclare West in third. The emotional victory for owner Stewart Andrew came after his late wife Sadie passed away in December 2022, just days after watching Nick Rockett’s first race. Broadway Boy led most of the race but fell, leading to delays and suspensions for the jockeys, while Nick Rockett surged ahead of I Am Maximus to win by two and a half lengths, capping off a successful day for the Mullins family with a victory in the final race as well.
