BBC accuses Iran of escalating persecution of Persian staff and relatives

The BBC has accused Iran of intensifying its intimidation tactics against BBC Persian journalists, including targeting their family members in Iran with random interrogations, travel bans, and threats. BBC director general Tim Davie called for an end to this persecution, which he described as a direct assault on press freedom and human rights. The broadcaster plans to submit a new complaint to the UN, citing a significant rise in threats and harassment, which have previously drawn concern from UN officials regarding violations of international human rights law.
