People should consider energy bill fix, regulator says

Ofgem is urging households to consider switching to fixed price energy deals as the energy price cap is set to rise by 6.4% in April, increasing bills by £111 a year. Rising wholesale costs and inflation are cited as reasons for the hike, with standing charges for gas increasing but dropping for electricity. Customers are advised to seek help from their supplier if struggling to pay bills, while experts predict variable prices could fall again in July after recent fluctuations in the energy market.
