Birmingham has achieved World Craft City Status, recognizing its significant global influence in jewellery making. According to World Crafts Council President Saad Al-Qaddumi, this title highlights the city’s rich heritage, skilled artisans, and innovative contributions to the jewellery industry. The Jewellery Quarter Development Trust (JQDT) views this award as a landmark moment for Birmingham and the West Midlands, positioning the historic Jewellery Quarter prominently on the international stage, joining only eight other European cities with this prestigious recognition.
