Anger as Storm Bert leaves trail of destruction

Residents in south Wales expressed anger over the lack of preparation for Storm Bert, with Pontypridd residents bailing out their houses after flooding reminiscent of Storm Dennis in 2020. The clean-up operation continued as 28 schools closed, severe flood warnings were issued in Monmouthshire, and a landslip near Pontypool led to train line closures. First Minister Eluned Morgan described the storm’s impact as “absolutely devastating,” with communities in Cwmtillery, Blaenau Gwent, and Crickhowell, Powys, facing significant damage to homes and businesses.
