In rebel-held Goma, eastern DR Congo, rapper Freddy Mukuza and others were allegedly killed by M23 rebels, who have been accused of carrying out atrocities. The rebels, backed by Rwanda, are in complete control of the area and have instilled fear and silence among residents, preventing any independent investigation into the alleged massacre. Mukuza, a civilian and activist, leaves behind a family and community living in constant fear and poverty under the oppressive rule of the M23.
