Survivors of Uganda’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) welcome the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) confirmation of charges against leader Joseph Kony, who faces 39 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Kony, who has evaded capture since a 2005 arrest warrant, is believed to be hiding in the Central African Republic. Victims, like Evelyn Amon, hope this move will renew efforts to bring him to justice and provide them with compensation. Over two decades, the LRA’s insurgency resulted in the deaths of over 100,000 people and the abduction of tens of thousands of children.
