A Filipino man on an essential skills visa was compelled to leave New Zealand due to “atrociously poor advice” from immigration adviser Philip Leslie Wharekura, who mishandled his residency application. The application was declined last May for lack of evidence regarding his relationship with his partner, despite the man’s request to exclude the partner from the application.
