Central African Republic President Faustin-Archange Touadera has secured a third term in office by winning an outright majority in the December 28 election with 76.15 percent of the vote. Former Prime Minister Anicet-Georges Dologuele received 14.66 percent and former Prime Minister Henri-Marie Dondra received 3.19 percent. Voter turnout was 52.42 percent. Touadera campaigned on his security record and signed peace deals with rebel groups, while the main opposition coalition boycotted the election citing unfairness. Dologuele and Dondra raised concerns about election fraud, with the Constitutional Court having until January 20 to resolve any challenges.
