Zamrock Resurgence
Artists worldwide are rediscovering Zamrock, Zambia’s 1970s musical movement, with rapper Sampa the Great incorporating its influences into her upcoming album. Zamrock, blending psychedelic rock with traditional Zambian sounds, emerged as a bold post-colonial statement but faded due to economic and health crises. Recently, the genre has gained traction in the West, thanks to initiatives like Now-Again Records, sparking renewed interest among collectors. Contemporary artists, including Tyler, the Creator, are sampling Zamrock tracks, highlighting its enduring impact.
