A Kenyan court has suspended a $2.5bn health aid deal with the US over data privacy concerns following a lawsuit from the Consumer Federation of Kenya. The ruling prevents the transfer or sharing of Kenyans’ sensitive health data until the case is fully heard on February 12. The agreement, which includes a $1.7bn US contribution and $850m from Kenya, has raised fears of foreign control over local health records. President William Ruto reassured citizens that Kenyan laws will protect their data.
