Referees' body investigating alleged Coote video

PGMOL is investigating a video circulating on social media allegedly showing referee David Coote making derogatory comments about Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, following his officiating of Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Aston Villa. The video, which has not been verified, appears to reference a previous match between Liverpool and Burnley in July 2020, where Klopp criticized Coote for not giving fouls for challenges on Liverpool players. Coote, an experienced Premier League official, has been refereeing matches in the top flight since 2018, and further comment has been sought from the PGMOL by BBC Sport.
