Energy bills are forecast to rise by £85 a year, with domestic energy prices expected to increase by 5% from April, according to consultancy Cornwall Insight. The predicted higher prices will coincide with water and council tax bill increases, while minimum wage levels and benefits will also rise. Ofgem will announce the new energy price cap level on 25 February, affecting 26 million households on default, variable tariffs in England, Wales, and Scotland.
