After a cow named Beau Lucy was hit by a police vehicle in Staines-upon-Thames on 15 June, more than 2,000 complaints were received, but no further action will be taken as the incident was deemed necessary for public and property safety. The investigation involved reviewing over 250 pieces of video footage, 75 witness statements, and animal welfare specialists, leading to changes in police protocol for dealing with loose livestock incidents. The cow survived and is recovering with its owner, while the driver involved has been removed from front line duties.
