A 5-year-old child was rescued from the water following a jet ski incident at the Waikato River mouth in Port Waikato. Emergency services were notified around 6:25 PM on Thursday after reports of two individuals in distress. While the child was saved, a search is ongoing for another missing person. Patrolling surf lifeguards and Search & Rescue squads from local services were deployed to assist in the rescue efforts.
