Canon has officially announced its new RF-S7.8mm F4 STM Dual lens designed for 3D VR content creation, set to be released in November 2024 for $449.99. Compatible with the Canon EOS R7, it offers a more affordable option compared to existing 3D lenses, with a limited field of view of 63 degrees and stereoscopic elements aligned closely together for a strong 3D effect at close distances. Images and videos captured with this lens require processing with Adobe Premiere Pro or Canon’s EOS VR Utility software for viewing on VR or AR headsets, offering 180-degree 3D, VR, or spatial content capabilities.
