Canadian foreign interference agency says it detected a 'malicious activity' targeting candidate

The Canadian government department tracking suspected foreign interference has detected coordinated and malicious activity targeting Liberal Party leadership candidate Chrystia Freeland, linked to a WeChat account associated with the Chinese government. Over 30 WeChat news accounts were identified participating in the campaign, receiving high levels of engagement. Freeland responded defiantly, stating she will not be intimidated by Chinese foreign interference, following her resignation as finance minister which led to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announcing his resignation as prime minister and party leader.
