Canada’s men’s soccer team celebrated winning the inaugural Canadian Shield Tournament despite a 5-4 loss to Ivory Coast in a penalty shootout. The 30th-ranked Canadians finished the tournament with four points, placing them ahead of No. 86 New Zealand and No. 25 Ukraine, and two points ahead of No. 41 Ivory Coast. This victory marks a significant achievement for Canada in the competition.
