Canada’s men’s soccer team celebrated winning the inaugural Canadian Shield Tournament despite a 5-4 loss to Ivory Coast in a penalty shootout. The 30th-ranked Canadians finished the tournament with four points, placing them ahead of No. 86 New Zealand and No. 25 Ukraine, and two points ahead of No. 41 Ivory Coast.
