Khelif, a 26-year-old boxer, asserted her identity as a woman and expressed willingness to comply with testing requirements from the IOC for competition participation. She emphasized the need for women’s protection in sports without compromising the rights of others. Following U.S. President Trump’s remarks labeling her a “male boxer,” Khelif appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against World Boxing’s mandatory genetic tests, which are intended to determine eligibility based on sex at birth. A hearing regarding her appeal is still pending.
