Chad’s former prime minister and opposition leader, Succès Masra, has been arrested over alleged connections to a violent clash in Logone Occidental province that resulted in at least 42 deaths. He is accused of spreading inciting messages on social media and was reportedly “kidnapped” by military officers, according to his party. This incident follows a history of violence between local farmers and herders, with tensions rising over land disputes, and Masra’s party previously boycotted elections over transparency issues amid ongoing political unrest in Chad.
