Citizen Kane sled saved from destruction sells for nearly $15m

A Rosebud sled, a pivotal prop from the iconic opening scene of Citizen Kane, has been sold at auction for $14.75 million (£11 million), making it the second most expensive piece of film memorabilia after the $32 million ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. The sled, once thought lost, was saved from destruction in 1984 and later used by director Joe Dante as an Easter egg in his films.
