Nigeria Police Use Tear Gas on Abuja Protesters

The Nigerian police used tear gas to disperse protesters in Abuja demanding the release of separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in detention since 2021 on terrorism charges. Led by activist Omoyele Sowore, the demonstration resulted in road blockages and reported arrests of several individuals, including Kanu’s family and legal team, although police have not confirmed these arrests.
