Australian police have arrested numerous individuals during climate protests at the Port of Newcastle, one of the largest coal export ports globally.

Activists from the group Rising Tide claimed responsibility, stating that hundreds paddled kayaks into shipping lanes, effectively halting two cargo ships.

Police reported that several participants engaged in “unsafe practices” on the water amidst the demonstrations.
