Off-duty officer hit by lorry and killed after stopping to help

Off-duty police officer PC Rosie Prior and Ryan Welford were killed by a lorry at a crash site on the A19 in North Yorkshire. The 45-year-old officer had stopped to help Mr. Welford, with a teenage passenger in his car in serious condition. The lorry driver was arrested for causing death by dangerous driving, sparking tributes from officials and calls for road safety measures.
