Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has accepted a US proposal for a humanitarian ceasefire following their capture of el-Fasher, amid an ongoing civil war that began in April 2023. Despite this, the military-led government has yet to respond and demands the RSF’s disarmament and accountability for violations. The conflict has led to severe humanitarian crises, with over 24 million facing food shortages and reports of systematic killings during the RSF’s takeover of el-Fasher. The UN is set to address the situation in an emergency session on November 14.
