Stalking victims in England and Wales will soon have the right to know the identity of their abusers under new government proposals, with the aim of providing peace of mind and protection. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper pledges to use all available tools to empower victims and prevent stalking, including making Stalking Protection Orders more widely accessible and prohibiting offenders from contacting victims even from behind bars. These changes come after a review found that victims of stalking are not adequately protected by police forces, with the aim of ensuring consistency and support for victims across the country.
