In response to a WhatsApp chat, Labour MP Oliver Ryan has apologized for his “completely unacceptable” comments and expressed regret for not speaking out at the time. This comes after fellow MP Andrew Gwynne was sacked as a health minister for sending offensive messages in the same group. Ryan, who was a member of the group from 2019 to early 2022, has pledged to cooperate with Labour’s investigation and acknowledges his failure to challenge inappropriate remarks.

17th century painting looted by Nazis to be returned by Tate Britain
Tate Britain is returning a 17th-century painting by Henry Gibbs to the family of Jewish Belgian art collector Samuel Hartveld, as recommended by the Spoliation Advisory Panel due to it being looted by Nazis during World War II.
