ICC hears war crimes case against Ugandan rebel leader

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has initiated a war crimes case against fugitive Ugandan rebel leader Joseph Kony, marking the first confirmation of charges hearing without the accused present. Kony, who faces 39 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity for atrocities committed by the Lord’s Resistance Army, remains at large despite a 20-year-old arrest warrant, prompting the ICC to proceed with the case to ensure accountability.
