Avanti West Coast workers to strike over Christmas

Avanti West Coast train managers, represented by the RMT union, are set to strike for three days over the Christmas period due to disputes over rest day working arrangements. The walkouts are scheduled for 22, 23, and 29 December for the London to Scotland service, as the current arrangements are deemed “unacceptable” by the union. Despite accepting a 5% pay rise, a dispute remains over changes to working practices and talks over future pay, with the RMT general secretary citing unfair treatment compared to senior managers.
