European leaders have backed an Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, costing $53 billion, to improve living conditions without displacing Palestinians. The plan, endorsed by France, Germany, Italy, and Britain, calls for Gaza to be governed by a committee of experts and international peacekeepers, in contrast to Trump’s vision to resettle the population. The proposal aims to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and prevent the collapse of the fragile ceasefire deal, with Israel and the US rejecting the Arab initiative in favor of their own plans.
