MPs are set to debate an online petition calling for a re-run of July’s general election, which received over 2.8 million signatures and will be discussed in Westminster Hall on 6 January. The petition accuses Labour of reneging on promises made before the election and has been used by Tory leader Kemi Badenoch to taunt Sir Keir Starmer during Prime Minister’s Questions, although it will not lead to another election. The Petitions Committee has confirmed the debate, which will not include a vote but will require a government response due to its popularity.
