Toronto Blue Jays announcer Buck Martinez has announced his retirement after over 40 years in broadcasting, where he called more than 4,000 games. The 77-year-old, who began his career with the Blue Jays as a player in 1981, transitioned to broadcasting in 1982 and joined Sportsnet in 2010. Additionally, he managed the Blue Jays from 2001 to part of 2002 and took a leave for cancer treatment in 2022. His recent statement indicated it was time to pass the torch after discussions with his wife, Arlene.
