Intel’s rivals Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co and Broadcom are considering potential deals to split the U.S. chipmaker in two, according to the Wall Street Journal. Broadcom is looking into acquiring Intel’s chip-design and marketing business, while TSMC is exploring controlling some or all of Intel’s chip plants. The talks are at a preliminary stage, with no collaboration between Broadcom and TSMC, and all parties involved have not commented on the matter.
