Labour’s lead over the Tories in running the economy has dropped significantly since the election, with just 38% now backing Labour compared to 33% for the Conservatives. Chancellor Rachel Reeves has faced criticism for controversial decisions, leading to a decrease in personal approval ratings from plus seven to minus 18. Polling by Savanta shows Labour’s lead on key issues like cost of living and taxation has also decreased, with many voters no longer trusting the party on these issues.
