Five British women were arrested in Corfu after a video surfaced showing them pole dancing at the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The women, who were on a study abroad program with their pole dancing school, were accused of violating archaeological law and degrading the area after museum officials filed a lawsuit. Although their lawyer claimed no permit was needed for photography in the public space, the deputy mayor stated that a permit is required, and the women expressed regret over their actions.
