A British man, 36, drowned at Frankston Beach in Melbourne after his surfboard broke during stormy weather with 80mph winds. His 43-year-old friend attempted to rescue him but both were unresponsive when recovered; police emphasized the dangers of surfing in such conditions and that the surfer had minimal experience.
