A British Airways Boeing 777 experienced a fire on June 28, 2022, after the co-pilot mistakenly pulled the left lever instead of the right, reducing thrust during takeoff from Gatwick Airport. This error caused the brakes to overheat and ignite, necessitating a high-speed emergency stop while traveling at nearly 190mph, leading to temporary airport closures and flight disruptions. Fortunately, all 334 passengers and 13 crew members aboard were unharmed, and the fire was extinguished by emergency services.
