Federal health officials have expanded the outbreak of infant botulism tied to recalled ByHeart baby formula to include all illnesses reported since the company began production in March 2022. Investigations by the FDA and ByHeart are ongoing to determine the cause, with warnings that all ByHeart formula could be contaminated. The outbreak has now affected at least 51 infants in 19 states, with no reported deaths. ByHeart, a New York-based organic infant formula manufacturer, has recalled all products in the U.S. and is cooperating with federal officials to investigate the root cause of the contamination.
