Before the fifth Ashes Test, Australian and English cricket teams honour responders who rushed to the site of the shooting.

England and Australia’s cricket teams, along with the Sydney Cricket Ground crowd, paid tribute to emergency personnel and civilians who responded to a mass shooting at Bondi Beach in December. Hero Ahmed al-Ahmed, who disarmed an attacker, received the loudest applause. The shooting, labeled an anti-Jewish terrorist attack, resulted in 15 deaths and 42 injuries during a Hanukkah celebration. Security was heightened for the Test match, reflecting the tragic event’s seriousness.
