Since 1975, March 8 has been recognized as International Women’s Day by the UN. Binance, known as the world’s largest exchange, has launched a new product aimed at women investors, entrepreneurs, and developers – a perfume called ‘Crypto’. This fragrance, packed in a gold bottle, is designed specifically for women with the tagline ‘Fragrance meets Finance’.
As part of a new campaign to address gender imbalance in the crypto sector, Binance is rewarding the first 5,000 women who complete a beginner crypto course on Binance Academy with $25 in Tether token vouchers.
The Crypto perfume is not for sale but can be sampled at pop-up stands in Bahrain, where Binance has set up stalls to spark conversations about bridging the gender gap in the crypto industry.
Binance’s chief marketing officer, Rachel Conlan, stated, “Bold, distinctive, and deliberately disruptive, ‘Crypto’ is not just a scent but a message to women that they have a vital role in the crypto revolution.”
Binance shared a video on X showcasing the campaign in public places. They also teased the perfume through their X handle, describing it as a ‘luxurious fusion’ of ‘exotic ingredients’ like HODL, DYOR, YOLO, and LFG – common acronyms in the crypto world.
According to a report by TechCrunch, the original fragrance of Crypto opens with notes of ozone, salt, and moss, followed by a blend of Oud, Mandarin, and precious woods, and finishes with Amber, Woody, and Musk for a warm and sophisticated aroma.
On the business side, Binance has seen changes with the appointment of new CEO Richard Teng in November 2023 after former CEO Changpeng Zhao’s legal troubles. Recently, Nigeria’s House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes summoned Teng over suspicions of money laundering and terror financing.
