The Data Bill has been amended to ensure that copyrighted work is not used without permission or compensation by AI companies, subjecting them to UK copyright law and revealing web crawler owners. The Government is expected to respond to a consultation on the issue soon and potentially introduce exemptions to copyright law for text and data mining, seeking a mutually beneficial solution for all parties involved.
