Dozens of school staff in Montreal have been fired, suspended, or resigned due to Quebec’s Bill 94, which extends a ban on religious symbols in schools to all personnel interacting with students. The Montreal Association of School Principals warns that hundreds more may lose their jobs, particularly in service centres, as the law has retroactively eliminated exemptions for employees hired after the bill was tabled. The Quebec Liberal and Québec Solidaire parties are urging the government to reconsider the law’s implementation timeline.
