ORIGINAL POST: A remake of The War of the Roses titled The Roses is in the works. Jay Roach will direct the film for Searchlight Pictures, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman starring as the feuding couple. The screenplay is written by Tony McNamara, known for Poor Things and The Favourite. The film is produced by Adam Ackland, Leah Clarke, Ed Sinclair, Tom Carver, Jay Roach, and Michelle Graham.
The story follows the competitive relationship between Theo (Cumberbatch) and Ivy (Colman), a seemingly perfect couple whose marriage is tested when Theo’s career takes a hit, leading to a comedic battle of wills.
The production, currently taking place in the UK, is casting for the roles of Roy and Hattie, the twin children of Theo and Ivy. The siblings, described as disciplined athletes with a dry sense of humor, play a key role in the film’s plot.
